Joint marital property (společné jmění manželů)
The default property regime of a marriage, under which most assets and debts acquired during the marriage are shared.
By default, most assets and debts acquired during a marriage form the joint marital property (SJM), owned by both spouses together.
On divorce the SJM is divided, either by agreement or by the court. Spouses can modify the regime by a prenuptial or marital contract in the form of a notarial deed.
